Tai Chi or Qigong is a gentle mind-body exercise originating from ancient China, which is now practised around the world as an effective way of achieving good health and vitality.
It is a moving meditation using a series of gentle exercises that creates balance between the mind and body; ultimately to cultivate our energy (qi) to flow smoothly and powerfully by releasing stagnant or blocked qi, alleviates pain, stiffness and improves circulation which overall builds optimal health. This is the main reason why it is so popular for people around the world plus it's suitable for all ages and fitness levels. So if you have difficulties sitting still doing meditation, perhaps moving meditation with Tai Chi or Qigong is worth considering. It is a spiritual experience as much as a physical one.
Tai Chi /Qigong movements are fluid, graceful and gentle; while breathing is deep and slow, thus aiding visual and mental concentration. This aligns your body, mind and spirit at the same time, creating a sense of peace and wellbeing.
Movements are designed to equally balance the yin and yang (opposite forces that complement each other). It also encourages the meridians (lines of energy flow) within the body to flow, hence it is almost like having an acupuncture treatment!
There are many styles of Tai Chi with just as many names but overall the ultimate goal is to achieve optimal health and wellbeing by slowing down the mind-body and not allow the stresses of everyday living create disharmony within the body.
It's a life long journey that can be practised at deeper levels in time. It can also be practised anywhere, on your own or in a class environment.

"After a few weeks, I've noticed a few positive changes and how I feel generally. I'm able to balance on one leg (even on my bad leg!) which I have struggled for years. I'm sleeping better and waking less. Nancy is a calm influence and I find myself focusing on my slow breathing quite often." Diane Toowoomba 2024
‘Healing” is how I sum up my Tai Chi/Qigong experience under Nancy’s exceptional guidance. My balance has significantly improved, there’s less stress on my joints as with my “regular” rather brutal exercise regime of decades and something so very beautiful but disciplined – about moving and breathing inspired by images drawn from the natural world. Thank you Nancy & John". F.G.C. 2024
"I have been attending Nancy’s classes since the beginning of 2023. I love the gentleness of our Shibashi movements. Nancy is always willing to answer our questions and share her knowledge with the class. Our classes are fun and always done with a smile. I am very happy with my progress. Thank you, Nancy." "The classes are very relaxing, and I believe I sleep better the night after the session. I’m definitely able to bend down with ease. Nancy (and John) are gentle caring teachers." Robina 2024
"I noted a decline in my balance apparently due to side effects of my medication. I have been attending Tai Chi / Qigong classes for a good 6 months. In the last couple of months, I have experienced improvement gained through the basic exercises. The exercises have helped to improve my shortness of breath and improving my breathing generally."
